My 40 Before 40 List
For a long time, I had a generic bucket list. (If you haven’t heard of a bucket list, which you probably have, it’s a list of things you want to do in your life before you…kick the bucket.)
However, I (hopefully) have a long time before that happens, so I wanted to make a bucket list for the more immediate future.
At the time of writing this, I’m 31 years old, so I’m creating my 40 Before 40 list – the 40 things I want to do before my 40th birthday in March of 2035.
Some of them are bigger life events and some are small things I’ve always been curious about.
Let’s dive in.
Publish a novel (see my writing updates here)
Go on a cruise
Learn the constellations (or at least some of them)
Pick up a new hobby
Draw a graphic memoir
Learn to juggle
Ride a mechanical bull
Get a passport
Find a close friend group
Visit at least 5 new national parks
Climb to the top of an indoor rock wall
Learn to solve a Rubik’s Cube
Do a dog DNA test on Bella
Pay off all debt
Create a household binder
Get to a healthy weight
Create a scrapbook or photo book
Watch The Sopranos
Create (and stick to) better routines
Hit 200 volunteer hours with Crisis Text Line
Travel out of the country
Learn to skip rocks
Go to Disney World
Learn how to style my hair
Speak at Get Organized HQ Virtual
Figure out how to store my completed puzzles
See the Northern Lights
Save a 6-month emergency fund
Adopt another dog from the shelter
Get the house completely organized (down to tough areas, like under the sinks)
Have a baby
Do something I’m scared of (like ziplining)
Build my dream library
Find wall art we love
Learn archery
Go to a book convention
Visit a big holiday market
Spend the holiday season in New York City
Try birdwatching and learn to spot at least 10 birds
Figure out insurance, wills, and all that boring stuff
It’s going to be a full and exciting 9 years!
